Free Tour of Warsaw Old Town
Get Ready to Uncover the Medieval Heart of Warsaw
ABOUT THE Free Tour of Warsaw Old Town
This tour is operated by our partner Orange Umbrella Free Tour Warsaw.
This Free Walking Tour takes you through the city’s UNESCO-listed center, covering both the oldest and second-oldest districts in town: the so-called “Old” and “New” Towns (don’t let the name fool you — the New Town is a sprightly 600 years old). This is the Warsaw locals wish they could show every visitor.
We kick things off in Castle Square, right where Warsaw's royal history begins. From there, feast your eyes on the Royal Castle, and follow your expert local guide into winding cobbled streets full of legends, laughter, and some surprisingly quirky facts. You’ll pass by the Cathedral of Saint John, ring the magic bell if you dare, and step into the vibrant Market Square, where the city’s famous Mermaid Statue keeps a watchful eye on visitors and pigeons alike.
It continues along the medieval city walls and through the Barbican, once Warsaw’s fortified outpost and now a favorite photo op. You’ll then explore the charming Freta Street, the main artery of the New Town, where we end with a visit to the birthplace of Marie Curie, Nobel laureate and professional radiation wrangler.
This 2-hour tour is your perfect Warsaw starter pack: the must-see spots, the lesser-known gems, and the stories that bring them to life... think of it as your backstage pass to a city that’s rebuilt itself more than once.
